Now, I'm not normally one to make resolutions (usually due to the fact that I traditionally break them), but I decided to make a few this year.
1) I'm flossing every day. I've been doing this for about two weeks now, and it's much less painful each time. Normally I HATE flossing because it's so awkward trying to hold the floss, but thanks to these things called Glide Floss Picks, I can simply hold onto a tiny plastic handle which holds a length of floss. It's about 100 times easier than the usual technique. The fact that I'm actually doing it proves my point!
2) I'm no longer drinking soda. Now, it's not the carbonation that I'm avoiding, it's the sugar water. When it comes right down to it, soda or 'pop' as it's referred to on the East coast, is just carbonated delicious sugar water. In an effort to eat healthier, I've decided to give up this sugary treat and instead drink more fruit juice. So far, I've managed to avoid it, though I did accidentally open a Sprite out of habit.
3) For some reason all of my resolutions seem to involve me suffering in some way. I've also decided to watch what I eat, and avoid really bad food. I'm not doing so well at this, but I've made some strides that will set me up for success! I have a particular fondness for boiled soy beans (I know it sounds dorky, but I swear it's awesome) so I'm going to try to make that my snack instead of chips, candy, or other things like that.
4) I'm going to be nicer, and try my best not to let people tick me off. This resolution is a lot harder than it looks. It's so easy to get mad, I need to break the habit and not waste my energy worrying about what other people do. Now, that's not to say I'm going to let people walk all over me. It's just a matter of choosing my battles and learning to ignore the pointless annoyances of life.
I'll be sure to thrill you with resolution updates throughout the year. And if I don't, please remind me.
That is all,
Cailin
